Bamboo Solutions for Self-Sustainability in the Amphibious Community of Claverito, Peru

Lianna Gardner, Javier Werner, Aiden Thornton and Ryan Kiyak

This poster presents a community-driven design initiative in Iquitos, Peru with the amphibious community of Claverito. It focuses on improving self-sustainability via the investigation of growing, harvesting, and constructing with bamboo. After identifying local needs, students created and proposed multiple designs that led to a community-selected solution. This poster showcases the design development, decision-making process, and documentation of that solution, including construction methods and photos from the hands-on, collaborative installation process during the final build.
