The effect of cover crop mixture seeding rates on soil particulate organic matter dynamics

Sloan Householder

This study’s objective is to determine optimal seeding rates for various cover crop species in mixtures and their impact on soil organic matter inputs. The study aims to quantify organic carbon distribution in active pools and assess the C:N ratio of the particulate organic matter pool. Linking species seeding rates to soil carbon will guide sustainable farm management practices. Findings provide insights into optimizing the root and shoot contributions and improving carbon availability for microbes.
