Jacob Cordell

A State College native, Jacob Cordell is pursuing majors in Material Sciences and Engineering, as well as in German. Jacob was a 2016-2017 Astronaut Scholar. "Applying for the Astronaut Scholarship forced me to take new perspectives on my research and where it fits in a national and global context. Besides boosting confidence in my work, the scholarship convinced me to pursue more fellowships and opened my career options." Dr. Jeffrey Brownson, associate professor of energy and mineral engineering, adds "In a few short years, he has pushed far beyond the traditional comfort zone to explore professional skill development in his area of passion, materials science and engineering. I have been so glad to have Jacob working with us for the past years, to extend his laboratory skills in materials processing and characterization, and to cultivate his interest in materials for sustainable energy applications."
