The intended audience is undergraduate students interested or involved in research. No programming background is expected. To keep the workshop highly interactive, only the first 25 participants will be accepted. Participants are expected to attend all workshops as the content is cumulative.

Workshop Details

Mon - March 15  (Optional) Installing R and Tidyverse
This optional session is for individual assistance in downloading R, RStudio, and the necessary packages (Tidyverse) for the remaining workshops.

Wed - March 17  Introduction to RStudio and R Programming
This workshop will provide an overview of R and RStudio, teaching the fundamentals required to begin applying R. You will learn about the RStudio interface, the basics of R programming (e.g. syntax, data structures, and functions), and how to run code.

Wed - March 24  Introduction to Data Wrangling with Tidyverse
What do you do when your data is messy and cannot be directly used for analysis or visualization? Without the right tools, it may be impossible or extremely time consuming to prepare datasets for use. This workshop will teach you how to import, clean, and process datasets for analysis, visualization, or exporting. The focus will be on the ‘dplyr’ package within the Tidyverse, consistently one of the most popular packages in R.

Wed - March 31  Data Visualization with ggplot2
How do you visualize data? How do you create visually appealing and informative plots and figures? This workshop will teach you how to create effective data visualizations through ggplot2 and the grammar of graphics syntax.

Registration is required.
