Spider research video earns national awards from The Science Coalition
Studying the circadian rhythm — or 24-hour internal 'clock' — of spiders and creating a video on the topic may not be something most people have considered. For Logan Coomes, a Penn State York student, and his team, their research and video earned a People’s Choice Award and a third-place finish in a national video competition, the Fund It Forward Student Video Challenge, sponsored by The Science Coalition.
Lehigh Valley students collaborate with faculty on COVID-themed journal article
Students enrolled in Penn State Lehigh Valley Instructional Designer and Adjunct Lecturer Eileen Grodziak's Fall 2020 First-Year Experience course collaborated with Grodziak and Associate Research Professor Laura E. Cruz of the University’s Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence on the recently published journal article, “We Belong: A Collaborative Reflection on First-Year Student Engagement under COVID-19."
Applications open for high-performance building summer camp for college students
Applications are open for the inaugural High-Performance Building Summer Camp, an intensive three-week program that introduces participants to the design and construction principles of more sustainable, more efficient and healthier buildings. The day camp will take place from May 31 through June 17 in Pittsburgh, a city classified as a United Nations International Center of Excellence on High-Performance Building.
Penn State Scranton's Undergraduate Research Fair and Exhibition back on campus
For the first time in three years, Penn State Scranton's Undergraduate Research Fair and Exhibition will take place in person. Scheduled for Wednesday, April 6, this year's event will feature the work of 112 students presenting their scholarly research and creative works through oral presentations, poster displays, gallery exhibits and artistic performances.

Penn State’s nominee for Beinecke Scholarship is Abby Mikalauskas
Penn State third-year student Abby Mikalauskas is the University’s nominee for the 2022 Beinecke Scholarship, which recognizes students who plan to pursue research-based graduate degrees in the arts, humanities and social sciences. Mikalauskas is pursuing majors in art history, anthropology and French, as well as a double minor in classics and ancient Mediterranean studies and international and global studies.
