This study examined the association between loneliness and physical activity (PA) among diverse sedentary Appalachian adults. High levels of loneliness were associated with low self-reported total PA (B=.078, 95% CI: -156.577, -13.231). Findings suggest the need for PA interventions that aim to decrease feelings of loneliness in an effort to increase PA, such as weekly group meetings that engage participants in a more socially-focused PA intervention.
