The impact of Qrr1 expression on Vibrio fischeri

Shyan Cousins

Qrr1 is a small RNA found in Vibrio fischeri that regulates traits such as motility, luminescence, and host colonization. LuxO, the σ54 -dependent response regulator, is known to activate the transcription of qrr1. It;s believed that there are other regulators of Qrr1. To investigate these other factors and determine to what extent Qrr1 expression influences motility, spotting and motility assays were performed. These assays allow for the quantification of Qrr1 expression and motility rates.
