I am a 4th year Schreyer scholar working with Dr. John Mauro on LionGlass, a patented phosphate-based glass that cuts carbon emissions by 60% compared to traditional soda-lime glass. I recently completed my REU with PARADIM at Cornell University where I was working on thin films of alpha gallium oxide for device purposes. I was from a branch campus so I am able to help with getting started in undergraduate research even in your first semesters at UP.
Project Description:
For my research, I experiment to find the mechanical properties of LionGlass such as hardness, chemical durability, and crack resistance. These properties are crucial to identify in order to transition the composition from academia to global industry use.
