This work focused on using a mixture of barium-ferrite particles in elastomer, forming magnetoactive elastomer patches. Patches fold an elastomer base using magnetic torque actuation to create active origami structures. Origami and kirigami boxes were tested with variable geometries and patch compositions. Findings conclude that base thicknesses above 0.5 mm have a strongly negative influence on fold angles. Consequently, notched fold lines to reduce local thickness allow for near-ideal actuation of complex geometries.
