The relationship between meal preparation and cooking barriers, and healthy eating among college students

by Madison Galascio
This study examined the barriers to healthy eating among college students. Data was collected via an online survey focusing on meal preparation habits and cooking barriers. Participants were categorized into those who did/not prepare dinner. Those who did not prepare dinner reported significantly higher cooking barriers; with lack of skill, interpersonal factors, and affordability/logistics revealed as important barriers. Addressing barriers with the use of university resources could increase healthier eating habits among college students.
