Wind-driven surface current and waves at an air-water interface

Pragnya Prabakaran
The goal of this research is to predict the growth rates of waves generated by wind. To model the wind, we use an exact solution of the Navier-Stokes equations for a two-dimensional coupled air-water system in which the air flows uniformly in the horizontal direction and is allowed to evolve in the vertical direction and time. Waves arise as a perturbation to this base flow. This project involves experiments, analysis, and numerics.
