Participants completed pre- and post-PANAS, media consumption, and physiological arousal questionnaires and watched negative clips. Results suggested an inverse relationship between average TV viewing and fear and positive correlation between playing shooter/fighter video games and positive affect after the series. When asked to label their emotions felt post-videos, participants identified fear when physiologically aroused but not anger, sadness, and disgust. These findings leave questions about what effects media consumption has on our emotions and self-awareness.
