Generation of short tandem repeat (STR) DNA by direct amplification is useful for identification of the donor of the blood on which a mosquito has fed. GlobalFiler™ Express PCR Amplification Kit was chosen for amplifying blood collected on COPAN microFLOQ® Direct Collection Devices from the mosquito midguts after feeding. Blood sample from each donor was used as reference to compare the results of profiles generated from the midguts of the mosquitoes.
