Negative Affect and Emotion Dysregulation Predicts Post-Traumatic Cognitions in Traumatized Individuals

Katherine Braund and Alyssa Zampogna

The current examined the interaction between NA and difficulties with emotion regulation in traumatized individuals and how this interaction relates to the experience of post-traumatic cognitions. A multiple regression analysis was conducted in  young adults (N = 94) who endorsed the past experience of a criterion A traumatic event. Preliminary results indicated both NA and emotion dysregulation are significant predictors of post-traumatic cognitions; the two predictors explained 30.2% of total variability in post-traumatic cognitions.
