Abortion Activists, Worldviews, and Attitude Expression: A Twitter Analysis

Brooke Przybylinski

This analysis builds on theories of worldviews and research of abortion attitude expression to investigate how abortion attitudes translate to social media.  Using Twitter data, I compiled 2,100 tweets from six activist groups on both sides of the abortion issue.  I performed a content analysis where I compared the tweets in terms of purpose, sentiment, and word count.  I found differences in how pro-life and pro-choice activists tweet, which is evidence for the worldviews.
