A Computational Approach to Modelling Sarcasm (#Not Sarcastic)

Josephine Soddano

Sarcasm is one of the most confusing features of human language that we must deal with on a daily basis. This project aims to explain how the Rational Speech Acts (RSA) model, a framework that views communication as recursive social and pragmatic reasoning between a listener and a speaker, is able to model sarcasm. Predictions from a computational implementation of this sarcasm model showed similarity to human raters' predictions about sarcasm.
