After the recent nationwide protests against racial injustice, the public has been debating how, or if, we should remember historical figures—exemplified by Thomas Jefferson. The Monticello museum claims to address this question by “bring[ing] history forward into national and global dialogues.” But visitors say otherwise. So, I propose that Monticello takes a cue from modern curatorship developments to exhibit a short documentary that reviews the legacy of Jefferson’s ideas in 21st century American history.
