Symbiotic V. fischeri strains engage in combat with different Type VI Secretion Systems

Anjali Mcneil

The Type VI Secretion System (T6SS) is a contact-dependent killing mechanism that facilitates interference competition between closely related strains of bacteria. Using the squid-vibrio symbiosis as a model for strain diversity, the study aimed to investigate the outcomes of the interaction between two T6SS-possessing strains of V. fischeri and to identify genetic factors that contribute to T6SS diversity within a single species.
