Adenylosuccinate lyase, or ADSL, deficiency is a rare purine metabolism disorder that presents in nematodes as decreased size and speed, as well as irregular movement. RNAi techniques were used to knockdown GART expression in mutant worms already deficient in ADSL to measure the phenotypic changes in the animal.
