Who should do research?

Students should conduct research if they want to:

  • explore their curiosity and commit to scholarly investigations in an area of interest;
  • pose new questions or present new ways of thinking about a given issue or topic;
  • be creative and open to making discoveries;
  • grow as an independent and critical thinker;
  • advance their analytic skills;
  • sharpen problem-solving skills;
  • meet new people with similar interests;
  • collaborate effectively on a team;
  • work with a faculty mentor and other experienced researchers;
  • enhance professional communication skills;
  • apply concepts learned in coursework to simulated or real-life situations.
