For four Penn Staters, Critical Language Scholarships will enable summer study

Penn Staters Jocelyn Krieger, Ashley Naraine, Juntae Rocker and Hannah Scholze have earned a 2022 Critical Language Scholarship. The competitive national award, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, will cover many of the expenses for students to pursue intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences abroad. 


Mechanical engineering student chosen for research program at University Park

Hannah Farber, who recently completed her second year at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, has been selected to participate in the Multi-Campus Research Experience for Undergraduates (MC REU) program. The program will allow Farber to conduct research in conjunction with a faculty member from her home campus of Penn State Wilkes-Barre and one based at University Park.


College of Engineering Research Symposium announces 2022 winners

The Penn State Engineering Graduate Student Council hosted its annual College of Engineering Research Symposium on April 6 at the Hyatt Place in downtown State College. 


Penn State senior Olivia Krum earns national Udall Scholarship

Penn State rising senior Olivia Krum has earned a Udall Scholarship, which rewards college sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service and commitment to Native American issues or the environment. 


Landscape architecture student receives SEN grant for urban planning research

Alyssa Humarang, a fourth-year landscape architecture student in the Stuckeman School, has been awarded a grant through the Student Engagement Network to advance her research on the urban planning of European streetscapes, with a focus on walkable urbanism and spatial planning, this summer.

A student at Penn State Wilkes-Barre had the opportunity to present research along with several faculty members at a national conference in March.


Lizards made earning a biology degree more fun for Penn State York student

For Nicholas Nase, lizards made earning a biology degree a lot more interesting and fun at Penn Sate York. Nase will cross the stage of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center to graduate at 6 p.m. Friday, May 6, as part of the campus' spring 2022 commencement.


Award winners announced for 2022 Undergraduate Exhibition

Thirty undergraduate students were awarded for their research posters, oral presentations, performances and engagement posters during the 2022 Undergraduate Exhibition for Research, Inquiry, and Creative Activity. 


Two Penn Staters selected for competitive national Goldwater Scholarship

Penn State juniors Ellie Kim and Jack Piazza have been selected as 2022 Goldwater Scholars. The scholarship, which provides up to $7,500 per year for U.S. undergraduates studying natural science, mathematics or engineering, is among the most competitive in the nation.  


Dozens of students participate in regional research symposium held at Schuylkill

Penn State Schuylkill hosted the 2022 Penn State Eastern Regional Undergraduate Research Symposium on Saturday, April 23. The event featured research from dozens of students across seven campuses: Penn State Abington, Brandywine, Hazleton, Lehigh Valley, Schuylkill, Scranton and York.
