MRI seeks applications for unique undergraduate materials research position
Penn State undergraduate students have an opportunity to receive a unique, hands-on, real-world work experience in the Millennium Science Complex’s state-of-the-art laboratories via the Materials Research Institute (MRI) Undergraduate Fellowship. In the fellowship, students will receive access to cutting-edge, advanced instrumentation that is normally reserved for graduate students.
Applications sought for 2022 M.G. Whiting Indigenous Knowledge Research Awards
Proposals are now being accepted for the 2022 M.G. Whiting Indigenous Knowledge Research Awards. Current Penn State graduate and undergraduate students are invited to submit proposals to conduct research between April 2022 and January 2023 on topics that focus on aspects of Indigenous knowledge. The deadline for submissions is March 27.
Nine engineers awarded $5.5 million in NSF early career awards
Nine faculty members in Penn State’s College of Engineering were recognized with National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) awards. Each projects funded range in duration from three and a half to five years, with grants from roughly $500,000 to more than $800,000.

Research presentation on happiness and crime to be held Friday, Feb. 25
Researchers from Penn State Wilkes-Barre will present their findings from a national study examining the link between happiness and crime, on Friday, Feb. 25, at 12:15 p.m. The Research Showcase Series event will be held in the Tech Center 101 Auditorium and is open to the campus community and the public.

Penn State Altoona's Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Fair will take place Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Adler Athletic Complex. Submissions will be accepted through March 1.
Four Penn Staters nominated for Goldwater Scholarship

Penn State Berks student develops conlang as part of Schreyer thesis
Jannah Martin sees conlangs, and her own constructed language in particular, as a means of bringing cultures together and closing that gap of otherness. Martin, a senior communication arts and sciences major at Penn State Berks, is completing a Schreyer Honors College thesis by constructing a language intended to serve as a bridge language.
